Different groups of Palestinian activists started hunger strike to support Palestinians in Israeli jails.
More than 50 people begun hunger strike to display their support for Palestinians in jail who are on huger strike as well. The activists carried pictures of arrested Palestinians and demanded lifting of solitary confinement and easing of prison conditions.
Palestinian university students established social assistance network for them.
Also, support activities were prepared in Gaza and Palestinian women joined the activities to back up hunger strike.
Moreover, thousands of people joined the protest march in Nablus city at West Bank to protest ill treatment and support hunger strike. The mothers of detainees carried pictures of their sons. A leading Palestinian activist Khader Adnan, who was released after his 66 days of hunger strike, joined the protests.
There are around 1000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and they are harshly treated. They begun hunger strike to get attention and boycott the inhumane treatment.
Palestinian prisoner Hassan al-Safdi is on 58th day of his hunger strike. His mother said that she worried about her son's life. -Day by day he is getting closer to his death,- she said.
Lawyer Jawad Boulos, head of the Legal Unit in Palestinian Prisoners' Society, said, -During my visits to prisons, I was shocked when I have learned the condition of prisoners. Bilal Diab and Tahir Halahla who have been on hunger strike for 65 days, are in very bad situation. Diab had blackout of consciousness.-
Boulus said that he asked the authorities to send him to another hospital, but they had rejected it.
Boulus emphasized that the two prisoners were facing imminent death.
He called on the United Nations to visit Palestinian prisoners on hunger strike in Israeli jails.
