A "Turkish-German University" will be founded in Istanbul. The university will have international status.

In an exclusive interview with the A.A correspondent, Prof. Atilla Eris, Executive Board Member of the Higher Board of Education, said the state university would be established in Istanbul under an international deal signed between Turkey and Germany last year.

Eris said Turkish Parliament approved formation of the Turkish-German University.

Prof. Eris said the university would have faculties on law, natural sciences, economics, cultural and social sciences as well as engineering and foreign languages.

Prof. Eris said the university would carry out activities that would boost Turkish-German cultural and scientific cooperation.
