COLORFUL WARNING
There was an outstanding turnout at the nationwide one-day warning strike. Public services halted, demonstration venues were full of interesting banners and flags.
Transportation services were most effected during one-day strike. All train services were halted in Istanbul and Ankara. Hospitals provided only emergency services.
Civil servants were on strike because unions assert that government did not keep its word regarding union right. Civil servants are also not satisfied with the pay hike that the government offered.
EAGLES TOPPLE MANCHESTER UNITED IN ENGLAND
Besiktas have put their name in history after they defeated 1-0 world soccer giants Manchester United in Old Trafford Stadium. Manchester United had not been defeated in last 23 matches in European competitions but Besiktas' Tello scored in 24th minute. Goalkeeper Rustu was the star of the night.

ACTION ENDS, DISCUSSIONS CONTINUE
Civil servants throughout the country have walked off their jobs for a day. More than 1.5 million civil servants from 11 different sectors joined the strike. The one-day action affected public transportation and education. It also forced hospitals to take emergency cases only. Labor unions said that their right to strike was legal in line with the standards of the International Labor Organization (ILO).
ISLAND'S KING BESIKTAS
Besiktas of Turkey beat Manchester United of the United Kingdom 1-0 at an away game in Group B of the European Champions League. Now, Besiktas needs to defeat CSKA Moscow to keep its UEFA Champions League hopes alive.

TENT SUMMIT
During the tent summit in Tripoli, Libyan Leader Muammar Qadhafi asked Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan about Turkey's relations with Israel. Erdogan said that Turkey-Israeli relations are going on very well. Qadhafi described Erdogan as the leader of the Islam world and all wronged people. Meanwhile, eight agreements were signed between Turkey and Libya during Erdogan's visit to Tripoli.
SHOCK AFTER 16 HOURS
Talks between the Ministry of Finance and Turkish conglomerate Dogan Holding on a tax fine of nearly 3.2 billion USD lasted for about 16 hours, but did not yield any results. Later, shares of the Dogan Holding lost 11 percent in value.
