Tuesday, 24 November 2009The member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) support the initiative of the Russian Federation on creation and signing of the European Security Contract. The declaration accepted by the CSTO countries on November 18 at OSCE Security Cooperation Forum states, the agency Kazakhstan Today reports citing the press service of the CSTO Secretariat.
The CSTO member states support carrying out in 2010 of the meeting of heads of CSTO, NATO, EU, CIS and OSCE to discuss the security strategy accepted in these organizations and coordinate positions to form a common indivisible security space.
"Control over arms, strengthening of trust, restraint and reasonable sufficiency in military construction will be the key aspects of European Security Contract."
The President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, informed of his initiative of creation of the European Security Contract on June 4, 2008 in Berlin.
