Tuesday, 24 November 2009Experts from regional and international security organizations will take part on 24 November in an international conference on efforts to fight terrorism and extremism due to open in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek.
The forum will take place in line with a cooperation program of CIS member states in the fight against terrorism and other violent manifestations of extremism for 2008-2010, RIA Novosti reported citing a Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry spokeswoman.
She said the meeting will involve delegations from the post-Soviet Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as representatives from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
The experts will touch upon urgent problems in countering terrorist threats and displays of extremism and discuss enhancing coordination between regional and international organizations.
The conference will also gather on 25 November.
The CSTO comprises Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. The SCO regional security group comprises Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Iran, India, Mongolia and Pakistan have observer status. |
