Tuesday, 24 November 2009Russia's Permanent Delegate to UNESCO Eleonora Mitrofanova was chosen on Monday to head the organization's Executive Board.
Mitrofanova was voted in by 56 out of 58 members of the board with two abstaining.
The Executive Board is elected by the General Conference and is one of the three constitutional bodies of UNESCO. The council manages the organization's budget and agenda, recommends potential new member states and candidates for director general of the organization.
