12,988 LETTERS
Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin gave detailed information about wiretapping, hottest issue of Turkey's agenda over the past few days. Ergin said that 113,270 people were wiretapped in the past three years, and officials had sent letters to 12,988 of those people saying they were wiretapped but no crimes detected.

2012 START
Council of Ministers adopted a bill that sets the infrastructure of
presidential election by popular vote. Turkish people will have this experience for the first time in 2012. According to draft articles, candidates must have transparent election accounts just as the U.S. system. No financial assistance will be made from the Treasury.

ERGENEKON PROSECUTORS DENY RECEIVING ANONYMOUS TIP OVER ALLEGED COUP ATTEMPTS
Prosecutors of the Ergenekon case have dismissed news reports that they had received a letter from an anonymous commissioned officer who allegedly had said he had found documents regarding "plans of military coup" on computers at the General Staff headquarters in Ankara. News reports said the commissioned officer had downloaded the documents on a compact disc and sent copies also to the president and the prime minister.

NEAR 42 THOUSAND PEOPLE WIRE-TAPPED
The Justice Ministry said telephones of 41,872 people were tapped in Turkey by the country's telecommunications authority under court orders. The figure stood at 32,852 in the first ten months of 2009. The ministry said an average of 40 thousand people are wire-tapped each year.

24-YEAR PRISON SENTENCE DEMAND FOR CEM, LIFE IN PRISON DEMAND FOR FATHER
Prosecutors have completed the indictment regarding Munevver Karabulut's killing. Cem Garipoglu and his father Mehmet Nida Garipoglu were accused of "murder by atrocious feelings." Prosecutors demanded 24 years of imprisonment for Cem Garipoglu for torturing and killing by atrociously for he was below 18.
However, they demanded life in prison for Cem's father Mehmet Nida Garipoglu on same charges.

"SO-CALLED" CASE
A prosecutor in Izmir, Fatih Genc, has been investigating the claims that a PKK-guided structure was formed within the framework of the Confederation of Public Sector Unions (KESK). He accused 31 people, most of whom are union administrators, and used a record number of the term "so-called" in his indictment. The prosecutor talked about PKK as "so-called terrorist organization", and used expressions like "so-called human rights, so-called those who claim that their relatives were killed by security forces, and ensuring so-called peace," and even "so-called Kurdish people." Prosecutor Genc used "so-called" for 114 times in the indictment.

7-HOUR MYSTERIOUS VISIT FROM FBI
Robert S. Mueller, head of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, was in Ankara on Wednesday. He met with Turkish Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin, Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek and Police Chief Oguz Kagan Koksal. Only statement regarding Mueller's visit was made by the U.S. Embassy. The Embassy said that Mueller was in Ankara for talks on ongoing cooperation in counter-terrorism and implementation of laws.

"MY FAMILY WON'T BE VACCINATED"
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who earlier said he would not be
vaccinated against swine flu, is determined against H1N1 inoculation.
"I have not changed my mind about it," Erdogan said. "I have made my own researches. I am not a person at risk. That's why I have not been vaccinated. No one has been vaccinated in my family. We have taken our precautions such as food and vitamins."

BARS PROTEST ALLEGED WIRE-TAPPING
Members of over forty bars took to the streets on Wednesday to protest alleged wire-tapping of judicial authorities. "Assaults and siege of the political power on judiciary have become unbearable," Istanbul Bar chairman said.
"The system is tumbling down and everyone will be trapped under it," he said.

FBI HEAD VISITS ANKARA
Chief of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, Robert S. Mueller,
visited Ankara and met with State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek, Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin and Director-General of Security Oguz Kagan Koksal. The agenda of Mueller's meetings was officially announced as the cooperation in the fight against terrorism, rumours say the real issue in Wednesday's talks was the safety of U.S. troops withdrawing from Iraq.

SHOCKING DEMAND FROM FBI
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) chief requested the biometric data of the suspects using land, air, naval and railways. Robert S. Mueller said, "follow all suspects, particularly terror suspects, using land, air, naval and airways in and via Turkey by using biometric data." Mueller also requested that Turkey and the United States share biometric data including fingerprints, voice, face, retina/iris. "Thus we can follow terrorists travelling in and out or via Turkey," he said. Ankara responded, "our regulations and international agreements do not allow such share of information."

ERGENEKON FOREVER!
The third and fourth indictments of the Ergenekon case are on the way. One of the indictments that are being prepared is related with Colonel Dursun Cicek and the other is about the weapons found in Poyrazkoy, Istanbul.

CHP ENDS DERSIM
The Republican People's Party (CHP) ended the discussions over Onur Oymen's Dersim blunder with a backward step by Kemal Kilicdaroglu. CHP chairman Deniz Baykal said, "this issue has turned into a campaign to lynch CHP, we will not let it happen."

"WE DO NOT FEAR LOSING VOTES," DEPUTY PREMIER SAYS
Deputy Premier and State Minister Bulent Arinc said the Justice and
Development (AK) Party did not have any concern that the government's democratic initiative would cost the party votes in an election. "The democratic initiative will maintain fraternity and the national unity. We do not fear losing votes. We are committed to do whatever it takes to complete this process," Arinc told a televised interview. "The biggest obstacle before the initiative is the prejudices. Provocations are holding us back," Arinc said.

FBI CHIEF IN ANKARA
Head of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation, Robert S. Mueller, was in Ankara to hold talks on fight against terrorist organization PKK, illicit drugs trafficking and money laundering. Mueller met with Turkish officials, including State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek, Justice Minister Sadullah Ergin and Director-General of Security Oguz Kagan Koksal.

GALATASARAY MIDFIELDER TESTS POSITIVE FOR SWINE FLU
Galatasaray soccer team said their midfielder and captain, Arda Turan, had been diagnosed with swine flu after being tested on complaints of a running nose, fever and exhaustion. The team said Turan was in good condition and he was receiving a heavy treatment.

CRIME COINCIDENTALLY REALIZED IN TAPPING, REASON TO BE DISMISSED
Also, the high court gave bad news to Supreme Court of Appeals prosecutor Omer Faruk Eminagaoglu and Sincan Criminal Court chief Osman Kacmaz, whom the Justice Ministry inspectors demand to be disbarred. The Supreme Court of Appeals and the Council of State regard acts "contradicting the principles of the occupation" a reason for disbarment even though these acts are realized coincidentally by telephone tapping. Even according to the Supreme Court of
Appeals, judicial officials can be disbarred with "coincidental" evidence gained illegally. The decision the Supreme Court of Appeals Criminal General Board made in 2007 can constitute an example for Eminagaoglu and Kacmaz.

U.S. MODEL FOR PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
The uncertainties regarding presidential election are being eliminated. The solution is found in the system used in the United States for years. Accordingly, people who want to run for the president can meet their costs by assistance of citizens. Every candidate will have an "election bank account." All income and spending of candidates during election campaign will be taken under registration. Comprised of 26 articles, the bill is expected to be sent to the parliament soon. The president has to be at least 40 years old and a university graduate.

BOMBS ARE SAME
Officials revealed that bombs found in Ergenekon's arsenals in Istanbul's Poyrazkoy district and Zir Valley in Ankara were the same. Bombs used by terrorist organizations Hizbullah and MLKP were also from the same group.

MONEY MANAGER HAS 800 MLN USD IN TURKEY
American investor Mark Mobius said that he had investments of 800 million USD in Turkisn companies. Mobius said his company was managing 60 different funds in Turkey.

BERLIN WALL ANALOGY
Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said that Berlin wall would be
re-erected if Turkey was not allowed to join the EU.
Frattini, who spoke at the Turkey-Italy Forum together with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, said that EU should not allow the new understanding of Crusaders.
