The Turkish foreign minister arrived in the Afghan capital of Kabul on Thursday to attend the oath taking ceremony of the Afghan president.
Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu will participate in the inauguration of Afghan President Hamid Karzai, who will assume this post for a second term.
Karzai could not gain majority of votes (51 percent) in the presidential elections on August 20, however he became the president after the other candidate Abdullah Abdullah withdrew in the second round.
Over 30 heads of state, foreign ministers and high-level officials are expected to attend the ceremony.
On Thursday morning, Davutoglu will participate in a breakfast that U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will host for foreign ministers of countries contributing to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.
Davutoglu will take part in a luncheon to be hosted by his Afghan counterpart Dadfar Spanta, and visit the Turkish unit that took over the Kabul regional command on October 31.
