Friday, 13 November 2009Marc Pierini, the head of the Delegation of the European Commission to Turkey, said on Friday that Turkey’s accession to European Union (EU) had two different steps.
Speaking to reporters at western province of Canakkale where he came to attend inauguration of a solid waste storage, Pierini said the first step was the EU negotiation process carried out under various topics. He said energy, environment and social affairs were among those topics.
Pierini said the second step was Turkey’s pre-accession financial assistance program. He said goal of this program was to assist Turkey upgrade its standards in every area to be ready for accession.
Pierini said this process would have a very important impact on business world. He also said the EU delegation was trying to enable Turkish business world and the business world in the EU to establish more relationship.
Pierini said there were currently 15 EU Information Centers, and noted that they were planning to open two more, which would be in Ankara and Istanbul. |
