Uzbekistan enjoyed stable and balanced rates of economy's development in January-September 2009. The country has a solid base for performance of the main forecast parameters of 2009. These were achieved thanks to the implementation of socioeconomic priorities set by the President Islam Karimov at a governmental session on 13 February 2009, as well as State Anti-Crisis Program.

Thus, the gross domestic product of Uzbekistan increased by 8% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2009. Volumes of industrial production output rose by 9.1%, agricultural output was up by 3.3% in the reporting period, according to a recent report by the Economy Ministry and State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

The main factor of economic growth were high growth rates of the volumes of investments (128.3%) and construction work (133.5%), as well as expansion of domestic consumer demand: retail trade turnover grew by 17.5%, and paid services – by 17.8%.

The performance of the state budget with proficit worth 0.2% to the GDP, and the balance of money and consumer market promoted the preservation of low inflation level (4.2%) not exceeding the forecast indicator.

The measures on support of local exporters ensured positive balance of the foreign trade balance worth over $2.3 billion.
