Turkish State Minister Hayati Yazici participated Wednesday in the Second International Silk Road Forum in Azerbaijan's capital, Baku.
Delivering a speech at the forum, Yazici called for cooperation and concrete steps to make the historical Silk Road a preferred global route of trade.
"We need to initiate solid measures to boost commercial activity on this ancient route such as reducing time of waiting at the customs and developing a common understanding in custom procedures," Yazici said.
Yazici said apart from being a trade route that connected Asia and Europe, the Silk Road constituted a bridge between cultures.
The Turkish state minister said the Silk Road promised a bright future in regaining its ancient function with its energy sources, energy and transportation routes, countries with high economic growth rates, and with a great potential for production and consumption.
