tashkent region activists analyze development in nine months

The meeting of Tashkent region activists focused on the results of socio-economic development for the first nine months of this year and aims at further expansion of economic reforms.

The meeting, which was chaired by the hokim of Tashkent region R. Kholmatov, was associated with a series of works on the consistent application of reforms in all sectors of the economy under the leadership of President Islam Karimov, the modernization of large industrial enterprises, start-up of new production capacity, the enforcement programs aimed at increasing employment and welfare, support of farmers, small businesses and private entrepreneurship, improvement of social infrastructure in villages under the State program "Year of development and improvement of the village.

During the last period, the gross regional product in the region rose by 6.1%. Growth in the industry amounted to 29.9%, in agriculture – 8.7%, the volume of services increased by 59.9%, retail trade turnover increased by 18.2%.

As a result of work on modernization of production, their technical and technological advance, direct investments coming into the region's economy, increased over the same period last year to 39.9%. 26 projects for the technological upgrading of enterprises carried out in various sectors of the economy.

Production of 43 new products entered the localization program established. In order to increase the level of employment there were created 65 thousand new jobs.

However, opportunities were insufficiently used to produce products based on local raw materials and do not meet the requirements to supplement the domestic consumer market with goods and to increase the exports.

Currently, there are ten unprofitable enterprises in the region. They are mainly located in the cities of Angren, Chirchik, Almalik, Yangiyul and Kibray district. The level of services provided to the population by some enterprises of trade and catering, remained at low levels. In particular, many things to be done in the Buka and Yukorichirchik districts for the development of services sphere, improving the living conditions of the population.

The meeting identified specific measures to address existing deficiencies, UzA reported.

Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan A. Aripov made a speech at the meeting of the activists of the region.
