Monday, 9 November 2009Activists of Ferghana region held a meeting devoted to results of socio-economic development in the first nine months of 2009 and the implementation of priority tasks of deepening economic reforms.
Acting hokim of Ferghana region H. Negmatov focused on the execution of the priority tasks identified by the Head of State at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held on 13 February this year.
Activities aimed at mitigating the effects of the global financial crisis, modernization of industrial enterprises and their technical and technological re-equipment, agricultural development, the full support of small business and entrepreneurship are instrumental in improving the level of employment and welfare.
For the nine months of this year, the gross regional product in the area rose by 6.1%. Industrial production increased by 7.6%, consumer goods – 11.5%, agricultural products – 3.3%, building materials – 23.4%.
During the reporting period there were created more than 70,000 jobs. Due to the formation of small businesses, there are increasing the number of service points and services, developing profitable industries such as in animal husbandry, pisciculture, poultry farming, beekeeping, which provided employment in rural areas.
However, there are still number of shortcomings in social and economic spheres. In Buvayda, Sokh areas there is not a single production entity with foreign investment. Joint-stock company Ishonch of Furkat district has not taken measures to increase exports. Five companies included in the Program of localization did not fulfill the planned tasks.
There is a backlog of work on the preparation of economic and social sectors for the autumn-winter season. There are not enough supplies of agricultural products for the winter in Rishtan, Furkat, Kuva districts.
The meeting outlined specific measures to address identified deficiencies, UzA reported.
