Turkish President Abdullah Gul said on Saturday that Turkey expected Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) countries to keep boosting ties with Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

Delivering the opening remarks of a ministerial meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of OIC in Istanbul, Gul said Turkey would keep working with other countries to secure lasting peace, stability and prosperity in its region and the world.

"Turkey has been pursuing a comprehensive policy in regard to the Middle East. Israel-Palestine conflict is at the center of disagreements in the region. There is need for a lasting solution on the matter for stability in the Middle East," he said.

In regard to nuclear program of Iran, Gul said that Turkey expected that a diplomatic solution would be found to the issue.

President Gul said it was clear that problems in Afghanistan could not be solved only by means of military methods, and Turkey has been conducting the most comprehensive development program in Afghanistan.
