customs union agreements are priority laws

According to the decision of the Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan, the ratified international Customs Union agreements will be given priority over the laws of Kazakhstan, except for those cases infringing the constitutional laws of Kazakhstan citizens. The decision was accepted today by the Constitutional Council and announced by its chairman, Igor Rogov, Kazakhstan Today agency reports.

According to the chairman of the Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan, "the Customs Union is an international organization and its body - the commission. The Constitutional Council informs that the contracts ratified by the Republic will be given priority over the laws of Kazakhstan."

I. Rogov reminded that "decisions of the international contracts, the international organizations or their bodies cannot contradict the constitutional norms of Kazakhstan. Though their decisions will be given a priority over the national legislation, except the Constitution."
