"OUR FACE TURNED TO BOTH WEST AND EAST"
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan responded from Tehran to comments that "Turkey has turned its face to the East." Erdogan said his reaction in Davos should not be considered an anti-West stance.
"It would be wrong to assume that my reaction in Davos was a stance against the West," he said.
Erdogan also said that Turkey would continue relations with Israel on an equitable basis.
DEATH IN MANISA NOT CAUSED BY SWINE FLU
Doctors blood tested Yusuf Demirtas, 28, who reportedly died of swine flu at a hospital in the western province of Manisa, and the test turned out to be negative, officials said.
Doctors did not see H1N1 virus in his blood.
Officials said cause of his death was lung infection.

EUROPEAN TURKEY
Great leader Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, speaking to French journalist Maurice Pernot on October 29, 1923, the day when he proclaimed Republic, said, "the Ottoman Empire collapsed the day when it broke up from Europe. We will not reiterate this mistake."
Constitutional amendment which would bring Republic was submitted to General Assembly that evening. The Great Leader was monitoring the developments from his room in the Parliament. He met French journalist Pernot and said, "our politics, traditions and interests lead us to a European Turkey with its ideas and tendencies. Is there any country which wanted civilization and did not head towards Europe? Anyway, Turks acted in the same line for centuries. We have walked from the east to the west continuously."
TURKEY HAS ONE FACE IN THE EAST, ONE IN THE WEST
Responding to the criticism that Turkey left the West and turned its face to Iran, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, "One side of Turkey's face is turned to the West while the other is to the East."
Referring to NATO membership of Turkey, which is a negotiating country with the EU, Erdogan said, "Turkey is a negotiating country with the EU, we are a member of NATO and we are together with many western countries."

BOMBS UNCOVERED AS WATER FLOWS BACK
A total of 11 hand grenades were uncovered at the bottom of a dam in the eastern province of Erzincan when water flowed back. Gendarmerie also found three bomb fuzes and two grenade throwers.
In another operation in Istanbul, police discovered a small arsenal in the attic of an apartment building. Residents found two Kalashnikov rifles, three guns, three hand grenades and nearly 1,000 bullets when they climbed to the attic to fix the leaking roof.
"YOU ARE ONE OF OUR BROTHERS"
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan penned important deals on energy and economy on the last day of his visit to Tehran.
Erdogan met with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and thanked for Iran's hospitality during his visit. Khamenei said he was very happy to see Turkish delegation in Iran and he praised Turkey's foreign policy towards the Muslim world.
"Your stance will strengthen your position in the region," he said.

ARMED FORCES SEEKING INFORMER OFFICER
Military prosecutor's office of the General Staff has launched an
investigation to find the mysterious soldier, who sent the original copy of the document to fight fundamentalism to Ergenekon prosecutors and introduced himself as an officer.
This person, who changed the agenda of the country on October 15, had introduced himself as "the son of a family serving the Turkish Armed Forces for generations".
This mysterious figure also asserted that activities to form a junta were
still underway.
LAST VISIT TO MOST INFLUENTIAL FIGURE
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Iran's most influential figure, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, on the last day of his visit to Tehran. Erdogan thanked for the hospitality shown in Iran.

President Abdullah Gul, in his message to celebrate the 86th anniversary of the Republic, said, "as Turkey endeavors for peace and tranquility, it would also decisively continue its fight against terrorism."
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the most important success of the Republic is that it united "all individuals of the nation under the basis of citizenship."
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) chairman Devlet Bahceli referred to
separatist demands and said "they will not be able to overthrow the Republic".
Democratic Society Party (DTP) chairman Ahmet Turk said Kurdish problem, coeval to the Republic, should be solved through internal dynamics.
STOCK EXCHANGE DROPS, DOLLAR RISES
Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB), which was made one session because of the Republic Day, dropped 2.90 percent and recessed under 49,000 points.
USD which has been in a downward trend for a long time reached 1.50 again.

Republican People's Party (CHP) chairman Deniz Baykal continued "plot" implications towards the "Plan to Fight Against Fundamentalism", which he made when original copy of the document was not existing.
Baykal only criticized the timing of the plan and lashed out at the

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke to journalists in Tehran after concluding his visit to Iran which the world was following very carefully.
Erdogan continued his support to Iran's nuclear program, noting Turkey was at the decision stage on the matter.
Erdogan said, "we will always continue relations with Israel on the level of equity. It is wrong to interpret our stance as being against the West. One side of Turkey's face is towards the East and the other side is towards the West. We are negotiating with the EU and a member of NATO."

At his return from Serbia, Turkish Prime Minister Abdullah Gul talked about developments on Turkey's agenda.
Asked about claims regarding "coup plans", Gul said "a country can not be strong if it is not strong inside itself. We have to know the value of our
country. We have to respect each other to make this country stronger. Everybody has to obey the rules which are quite obvious. Everybody has to fulfill the obligations required in a state of law."
NEW CYPRUS MOVE FROM ANKARA
Turkey is drawing a new road map for Cyprus issue. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu called Turkey's 40 ambassadors around the world to Ankara to discuss the solution process in the island.

Renault's new model Fluence will hit the road in November. Fluence will try to break a new sales record to defeat its predecessor Megane which sold 146,500 in Turkey.

INVESTIGATION IS THE DUTY OF CIVILIAN JURISDICTION
Jurists reacted against Military prosecutor's office's re-launching an
investigation against the plan "plot to nation" bearing the signature of colonel Dursun Cicek.
Retired Judge Colonel Umit Kardas recalled that an amendment was made to the article 250 of the Code of Criminal Procedures on trial of soldiers in civilian courts. Kardas said General Staff Military Prosecutor's Office did not have the authority to carry out investigation for crimes under this article.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul spoke to journalists about plot against
democracy and coup notes of the military which came up again on the agenda after the original copy of a document was sent to Ergenekon prosecutors.
Gul recalled that everybody must be able to give account and said all every one has to obey the rules.
FIRST VACCINE TO BE SHOT ON NOVEMBER 2
Health Ministry said first part of swine flu vaccines would be shot on
November 2. The ministry said all tests of H1N1 vaccines were positive. The ministry said health personnel and pilgrims to travel to Mecca for Hajj would be the first to be vaccinated.
