Saturday, 17 October 2009Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu had separate meetings with the chairman of the Democrat Movement Party (SDA) Suleiman Tihic and chairman of the Social Democrat Party (SDP) Zlatko Lagumzdija in Sarajevo on Friday.
Davutoglu and the political leaders discussed issues such as the constitutional reform process in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the European Union's decision to leave this country out of Balkan countries exempt from visa requirement.
Davutoglu told the political leaders that Turkey would never permit the division of Bosnia-Herzegovina.
In his meeting with Bosnian Presidency member Haris Silajdzic on Friday, Davutoglu informed Silajdzic about his talks held with EU and US officials on Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Davutoglu told Silajdzic that Bosnia-Herzegovina is not merely a foreign policy issue for Turkey but rather was a domestic matter as well.
Silajdzic, in the meeting with Davutoglu, touched on the problems his country faced in the education sector and complained about the brain drain.
Minister Davutoglu will inaugurate the Yunus Emre Cultural Center during his trip to Bosnia-Herzegovina and later give a conference on Ottoman heritage in Sarajevo. |
