Friday, 16 October 2009Turkish Prime Minister and his Iraqi counterpart Nouri Al Maliki met with a group of businessmen from Turkey and Iraq in Baghdad on Thursday.
Erdogan told businessmen that Turkey was ready to join forces with Iraq for reconstruction of this country.
Erdogan said Turkey had felt the same pain when Baghdad and Basra were devastated.
"We are here to help Iraq build its future on a healthy and firm ground," Erdogan told the meeting. "We will be here not only with our businessmen, but also with all our non-governmental organizations."
Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki, on his part, expressed his willingness to see Turkish firms taking part in investments in Iraq.
He called on Turkish businessmen to invest in Iraq's agriculture, transportation, trade, health and security.
Maliki said free trade agreement between the two countries would help make things easier for Turkish companies in his country.
"I pledge my word that investments in Iraq will be guaranteed," he said.
