Along with the 6th Conference of Ministers of Culture of Islamic countries, another conference dedicated to Sheikh Mahadinu Ibn Arabi al-Andalusi (1165?1240) was held last week in Baku - capital of Islamic culture in 2009.
The event, organized by the Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Heydar Aliyev Foundation headed by the First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, as well as Professor Nargiz Pashayeva - Head of the Baku branch of Moscow State University, was attended by prominent personalities, as well as scientists, researchers and academicians from Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Iran, representatives of Arab and European countries - France, Britain, Egypt, Syria and Algeria, which I had the honor to represent. " This event was dedicated to the memory of outstanding Arabist in the Caucasus, the Soviet scientist Aida Imanguliyeva. School of Arabic studies in Azerbaijan, which is leading in the region, and the country - one of the most ancient of the Arab provinces after the Islamic conquest in 639 - was founded with the support of Academician Ziya Bunyadov. The Arabs arrived in Derbent, passing through the coast of the Caspian Sea, and they were so delighted that gave the city the title "Great Doors". As Islamic historian Balazhuri wrote, majority of its inhabitants were Azerbaijanis, who accepted Islam during the reign of Imam Ali Abu Talib - the fourth true caliph. It is not surprising that Azerbaijan became a friend of the Arabs and the keeper of the Arabic language in the Caucasus. This is testified by the presence of thousands of Arabic words and expressions in the Azerbaijani language, belonging to the Turkic group of languages. As Muhammad Kashgar confirmed in his famous book "Divan of Turkic languages", after Azerbaijan cancelled the Cyrillic alphabet, as one of the legacies of the Soviet era, in Azerbaijanis almost write Arabic words in Latin letters. Azerbaijanis wrote Azerbaijani words in Arabic letters, which testifies love and respect of Azeri people to the Arabs, Arab culture. The famous epos "Leyli and Majnun" by the poet Fuzuli (1494-1545) is performed on the scene of opera in Baku and other regional capitals almost throughout the season, excluding Armenian-occupied region of Nagorno-Karabakh, where all Islamic mosques, mausoleums were destroyed, cultural and historical crimes were committed in order to evangelize the entire region, despite the fact that Azerbaijan has always distinguished for its tolerance, where Muslims and non-Muslims live in peace and harmony.
There is also a Department of Caucasus Muslims, and the first conference of Muslims of the Caucasus was held in Baku in 1944. Baku has always been the historical center of all Muslims of the Caucasus, which are now governed by the head of the Caucasus Muslims Allahshukur Pashazade, who has high respect for the national values and Arab issues, especially the principal - the Palestinian issue.
It is known that the Sufis have found special spiritual appeasement in this ancient region, especially in the field of religious philosophy and writing poetry. This is the famous poet Nizami Ganjavi, - his book was written by the famous calligraphic hand-writer Fadlullah Noimi; and Imad al-Din Nasimi, the most famous representative of Hurufists. Also, the founders of the famous Sufi Order Halvatiya Rahmaniya and descendants of Seid Yahyi Shirvani - Bakuvi, who settled in Levant, Egypt and even came to Algeria - Sheikh Mohammed Ibn Abdul Rahman Dzhardzhari Azkhari, who was buried in the city of Algiers, became famous.
