One of the Iranian senior clerics Ayatollah Safi Golpaygani criticized some directions of the Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's policy. "If someone does not take into account the words of theologians and supporters of the Islamic Revolution, he could face the wrath of Allah and the people," Golpaygani said, the Iranian Mehr News agency reported.

In some provinces women will be elected governors, Iranian Interior Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar said during his visit to the Iranian city of Qum.

"Theologians and clerics do not feud with anyone. Our view is consistent with the Islamic law and we are acting for the benefit of the Islamic country. Our only request as theologians is to follow the instructions of Islam," Golpaygani said at the meeting with spiritual representatives of the Iranian Parliament.

According to Golyapani, none of religions appraises women as the Islamic. The Islamic religion requires men to respect women's rights. However, this does not mean that women should work in post that fits man. The Islamic culture is different from the cultures of East and West.

For the first time in the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a woman took the post of minister during the second term of Ahmadinejad's presidency. Religious leaders have expressed their protests in this respect.
