Liechtenstein succumbed to a home defeat by Azerbaijan to send them to the bottom of Group 4. Vagif Javadov and Elvin Mammadov both scored for the visitors, who had only scored once before in the qualifying campaign, Goal.com reported.

The sides could not be separated for the opening 45 minutes, and the lack of goalscoring talent on both sides was clearly evident.

The breakthrough finally came in the 55th minute when FK Karabakh striker Javadov beat 'keeper Peter Jehle.

Liechtenstein looked for the equaliser but could not find a way past Kamran Agayev.

The second goal eventually came through 21-year-old Mammadov in the 82nd minute to wrap up Azerbaijan's first victory of the campaign.
