Turkey expressed on Monday sorrow over loss of life in heavy rains in India.
Turkey's Foreign Ministry released a statement in which it said Turkey was deeply saddened by the great loss of life and material damage caused by the floods triggered by heavy rains that recently struck India.
"We convey our sympathy to the friendly people of India at their difficult hour," the ministry said in the statement.
The ministry said Turkey also expressed its readiness to provide necessary assistance to India within its means.
In its statement, the ministry also said that Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had conveyed a message of condolence and support to his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh.
Floods leave 2.5 million homeless, 250 dead mostly in the Indian states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
