Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadi-Nejad said Friday Turkey and Iran had excellent relations.
Speaking to reporters in New York where he attended the meetings of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, Ahmadi-Nejad said that political, cultural and economic relations between Turkey and Iran were very good.
Ahmadi-Nejad's comments came after he was asked what he thought on Turkey's possible role between Iran and the West in Iran's nuclear program.
Our two countries cooperate in the fields of energy, tourism, cultural and international issues. When I met Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan yesterday (Thursday) we discussed ways to boost our existing relations, Ahmadi-Nejad said.
Premier Erdogan will soon visit Tehran, Ahmadi-Nejad also said.
Erdogan had said on Thursday that he would pay a visit to Iran either at the end of October or at the beginning of November.
