"Ramadan Nights" Events in Paris, Ends With Performance by Renown Turkish Musicians |

Monday, 21 September 2009The "Ramadan Nights", a series of events organised under the ongoing "Turkey Season" in France, ended Saturday with performances by renown Turkish musicians at the Chatelt theatre in Paris.
The night which began with Iftar --fast breaking meal--, puppet shows, and Semazen show --dance of whirling dervishes-- continued with a performance by Turkish diva Sezen Aksu.
Later "Taksim Trio" featuring Husnu Senlendirici gave a concert which was followed by performances by "Baba Zula", "Selim Sesler" and "Kolektif Istanbul".
Turkey's Chief EU Negotiator Minister Egemen Bagis and Paris Mayor Bertrand Delaone also attended the event.
The "Season of Turkey" activities began in France at the beginning of July with a show of the "Fire of Anatolia" dance group.
Turkey will be promoted by over 400 artistic and cultural activities in more than 70 cities in France for nine months.
"The Ottoman Caftans" exhibition to be opened at the Louvre Museum and "Istanbul for Centuries" exhibition at the Grand Palais will be the highlights of the season.
The "Season of Turkey" aims to contribute to promotion of Turkey's dynamics, creative differences, culture and heritage to the French society. |
