Venezuela Considers Shooting Down Drug Planes

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says he is considering allowing hisgovernment to shoot down foreign planes suspected of drug trafficking.

PresidentChavez said Thursday he is considering the possibility of bringing downaircraft from neighboring Colombia or the United States.

Hiscomments come three days after the U.S named Venezuela as one of threecountries that fails to meet international obligations to fight thedrug trade.

President Chavez says his country is doingeverything it can to combat drugs and called the United States thenumber one country responsible for drug production and trafficking.
