On Wednesday (16th of September), Albania's parliament has voted in Prime Minister Sali Berisha and his new government following the elections in June. The cabinet received the support of 74 out of 75 lawmakers present. Accordingly, the newly-elected government and its four-year program are approved.

"We wish the new government good luck, a cabinet which will send the country into the EU," said spokesman Jozefina Topalli.

The Prime Minister Sali Berisha gave special emphasis to the importance of the EU membership for Albania within the context of its program.

"Albania's efforts to join the European Union were the biggest and most important goal of my government," he said after the voting.
