In the new 2009-2010 academic year, 1,427,910 pupils will study at 4,569 schools in Azerbaijan.
Over 170,000 teachers will teach them, the Ministry of Education reported.
The new academic year begins in Azerbaijan on Sept. 15.
According to the Ministry's forecasts, 125,114 pupils will go to I form in the new academic year. In the last 2008-2009 academic year, 119,600 pupils were accepted to the first format secondary schools.
In the new academic year, 110,670 students will study at 37 state universities and 19,690 students - at private universities. A total of 12,450 teachers work at the state universities, and 1,960 - at the private universities.
