Georgia, Tbilisi, Sept. 10 /Trend News,N.Kirtzkhalia/

The Georgian draft resolution on the refugees from Abkhazia and South Ossetia, adopted by UN, is the most significant result, achieved by Georgia in the last year, the Foreign Minister, Grigol Vashadze, said on Sept. 10.

Vashadze said Georgia has worked on this issue for several months and has achieved a positive result, despite Russia's increased resistance.

"Russia's main goal is to change the legal status of the occupied territories, but it understands that Georgia will never allow it. And if Georgia will be able to maintain the existing position in the international arena, no one and nothing will prevent the country's de-occupation process," said the minister.

He said the resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly speaks about the obligatory return of all internally displaced persons and protection of their property rights. The resolution condemns violent demographic changes, made in the Georgian territory as a result of the conflicts. The paper also supports Georgia's proposal on the establishment of a special schedule for refugees' repatriation.
