Withdrawal of Georgia from CIS not influence situation in CIS

Withdrawal of Georgia from the structure of the Commonwealth of Independent States has not essentially influenced the situation in the CIS. The chairman of the CIS Executive Committee - the CIS Executive Secretary, Sergey Lebedev, said on August 21, at the joint session of the Council of permanent plenipotentiaries of the CIS member states at the authorized and other bodies of the Commonwealth and the Economic Commission at the CIS Economic Council, Kazakhstan Today agency reports citing the press service of the Executive Committee.


According to the press service, commenting on the official withdrawal of Georgia from the structure of the Commonwealth of Independent States taken place on August 18, Sergey Lebedev informed that this fact has not essentially influenced the situation in the CIS. Georgia remained the participant of more than 70 agreements concluded within the Commonwealth.


"Withdrawal of Georgia from the Commonwealth hardly meets the interests of its people and its economy. The CIS doors for Georgia are still open and if the country leaders decide to come back, we will accept it," he underlined.
