High Commissioner designate to Australia Fauzia Nasreen, and Ambassador designate to Uzbekistan Muhammad Waheed ul Hasan called on the Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani at the PM House on Saturday.

The Prime Minister directed the High Commissioner designate to Australia to strive for further strengthening of Pakistan-Australia bilateral relations particularly in the fields of enhancement of Pakistan's exports to and investment from Australia as well as further strengthening of ties in agriculture, mining, fruit processing and energy sectors.

While dilating on growing number of Pakistani students going to Australia for higher studies, the Prime Minister said that the High Commissioner designate should undertake the efforts to get more scholarships for Pakistani students for higher studies and that she should also devote her time and energy on the welfare and well being of 5000 plus strong Pakistani student community in particular and expatriate Pakistanis in Australia, in general.

The Prime Minister urged the Ambassador designate to Uzbekistan to focus on reinvigorating the Pakistan-Uzbekistan relations by promoting high level exchanges between the two countries, AFP reported.

He stressed the importance of trade and economic linkages for cementing the bilateral ties and expressed the hope that the Ambassador designate during his tenure will try to substantially increase the volume of trade between the two countries.

The Prime Minister said that both countries were victims of terror and hence it should be the endeavor of the Ambassador to strengthen bilateral cooperation between them to eliminate this menace.
