Friday, 21 August 2009Czech Airlines launched flights to Tashkent from Prague on 19 August this year. The new route, which will operate on a twice-weekly basis, will link the Czech capital to one of central Asia's most important cities.
Czech will use a 135-passenger Airbus A319 on the flights in a code-sharing agreement with Uzbekistan Airways.
Petr Pistelak, the carrier's vice president for marketing and product development, explained that Czech was the only airline in central Europe offering direct flights to Tashkent.
"Not only central Asia, but also the Russian Federation and trans-Caucasian republics are important and promising markets for Czech Airlines, on which we intend to focus more," he said.
The route is expected to prove popular among central Asian passengers flying onwards to western Europe thanks to the carrier's convenient onward connections.
It was initially operated on a charter basis from 3 July.
Czech Airlines said last month that it would adapt its flight schedule after experiencing a decline in passenger numbers. |
