Tropical storm AnaThe Atlantic Ocean's hurricane season is off to a busy start, with Tropical Storm Ana moving quickly toward the West Indies and a new depression right behind it.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center says Ana, the first named storm of the season, is about 1,500 kilometers east of the Leeward Islands. Ana had winds of 65 kilometers per hour Saturday and could gain strength over the next 48 hours.

Separately, another tropical depression formed in the south Atlantic Saturday, about 1,200 kilometers from the Cape Verde islands, with winds of 55 kilometers per hour.

In the Pacific Ocean west of Mexico, Hurricane Guillermo's winds increased to 205 kilometers per hour Saturday. The storm is nearly 2,500 kilometers west of Baja California, moving away from land. Forecasters say it will weaken as it passes over cooler waters.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP and AP.
