Friday, 7 August 2009Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Thursday that he attached importance to participation of Russia in Samsun-Ceyhan Crude Oil Pipeline Project.
Erdogan and Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin signed cooperation protocols on natural gas and oil between Turkey and Russia in Ankara. Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi also attended the signing ceremony.
Erdogan expressed pleasure that the views of Turkey and Russia about regional and international matters were similar.
Erdogan said that during his meeting with Putin, they decided to organize a high-level intergovernmental meeting to coordinate multi-dimensional strategic cooperation between Turkey and Russia under the co-chairmanship of the leaders.
First meeting would take place in Russia in the beginning of 2010, he added. Erdogan said that Turkish and Russian ministers would hold two or three meetings within 2010 to pursue this process.
Erdogan said that he conveyed his view to Putin to establish a Turkish-Russian college and a university in Turkey, and Putin was positive to the proposal.
Erdogan said that he, Putin and Berlusconi held a tripartite meeting today too.
He added that Italy and Turkey had an intensive relation in energy sector. |
