Friday, 7 August 2009Kazakhstan does not need to close the border with China in connection with the outburst of pulmonary plague in China. Director of Centre of Infectious Disease Control of Kazakhstan Republican Sanitary-and-Epidemiological Station, academician Alim Aykimbaev, stated today at the press conference, "Kazakhstan Today" agency reports.
"There are 10 natural centers of plague in 16 provinces in China, but it should not mean that we will restrict people. There are services which maintain development of economic processes. They supervise all these processes," A. Aykimbaev said.
"There is no danger for tourists in cities if they carry out all anti-epidemic measures. There can be danger for ecological tourism, when people come to the natural territory without corresponding knowledge of how to provide their own safety," the academician explained.
Chief physician of Kazakhstan Republican Sanitary-and-Epidemiologic Station, Kenes Ospanov, reminded that, in connection with the outburst of pulmonary plague in China, the Ministry of Health decided to strengthen control on the border with China.
