Monday, 3 August 2009The meeting of the heads of the CSTO member states took place in C. Aytmatov's House of Cultural-Ethnographic Centre Ruh Ordo in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, on Friday, "Kazakhstan Today" agency reports.
All the leaders of the CSTO member states took part in the informal summit: the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, the President of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, the President of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, Armenia - Serzh Sarkisyan, and Tajikistan - Emomali Rahmon.
The leaders of the CSTO countries heard the report on approaches and practical measures of formation of the coordinated information policy of the CSTO states. They also discussed construction on the bank of the lake Issyk Kul of the international youth military-sports centre of the organization.
The leaders of the CSTO states exchanged opinions on the important questions of international security and discussed some aspects of activity of the organization towards increase of its efficiency. The summit participants also exchanged opinions on global international problems, such as: improvement of the system of European security, world financial crisis, measures to counteract it, post-crisis development of Afghanistan and other questions of modern international relations.
