Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan Tsutomu Hiraoka and Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Rustam Kasymov signed exchange notes within the program of the government of Japan under the project "Granting stipends for professional training" on 29 July.

This project has been carried out by the Japanese government since 1999 for the purpose of training qualified personnel which in the future as civil servants and experts will be directly involved in the strategy of development of the state in the spheres of policy, economy, financial and legislative system.

181 citizens of Uzbekistan so far have gained Master's degree in the Japanese high schools. Those who have passed training under this program, having received knowledge on their specialties, after returning to Homeland are working for the sake of development of Uzbekistan.

The signing of exchange notes on 29 July is the tenth and the total sum allocated this time makes up about US$2.6 million. In all, the government of Japan has allocated nearly US$32.6 million including this project since 1999.

In the beginning of August the 10th training in Japan within this project will start, and 15 citizens of Uzbekistan will take part in it. Thus, this ceremony of signing is also dated to the 10th anniversary of cooperation with Uzbekistan within the project "Granting stipends for professional training".

"It is a great pleasure for me that the government of Japan, by means of this project, assists to the development of Uzbekistan as a whole. Besides, 2009 is the Year of cooperation of Japan and the Central Asia, and we also mark this year the 5th anniversary of dialogue "Central Asia + Japan" at level of Ministers for Foreign Affairs," said the Japanese diplomat at the ceremony of signing of exchange notes.

"Further I hope for the assistance of the government of Uzbekistan in the issue of selection and the recommendation of future trainees on the program, as well as in the field of their professional realization in Uzbekistan after the study ends in Japan," Hiraoka noted.

"From the bottom of my heart I wish that the participants who passed selection under this program will do their best in researches, gaining knowledge on specialties, and after homecoming work for the sake of the contribution to development of Uzbekistan.
