The Tbilisi Court of Appeal did not grant a claim of the Sport Academy and kept in force its sentence on its merger with the Chavchavadze Tbilisi State University.

An initiative group appealed against the government's decision on abolition of the Sport Academy as a self-contained university and its merger with the Chavchavadze Tbilisi State University in a form of a department.

In future the Georgian sport will lose qualified specialists due to this decision, claimants said.

"We will go on and appeal to the Supreme Court against the decision of the Court of Appeal," professor of the former Sport Academy Irakliy Dolaberidze said after the jurisdiction procedure.

"We know this is not a vain issue, because the government wanted to get our building, located in a prestigious place. Abolition of the academy was a political order," Dolaberidze said.
