Incumbent Kyrgyz President Garners 86 Percent After Counting 61 Percent Of Ballot Papers (update-4)

Incumbent Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiev garnered 86.33 percent of votes in the presidential elections after counting 61 percent of ballot papers, RIA Novosti reported with the reference to the Web site of the country's Central Election Commission (CEC).

A total of 1,225,681 voters supported Bakiev, while it is enough to gather 1.151 million votes to win the elections.

Some 7.39 percent of voters or 104,922 people supported Bakiev's opponent, candidate of the unified opposition, Almazbek Atambayev.


The remained presidential candidates who numbered 6 gathered 0.3 percent-2.3 percent of votes.

A total of 27,250 people voted against of all candidates.

Counting of votes is continuing, but further results will not influence on the current one. Data are posted on the Web site of the CEO. These data are preliminary in line with the legislation.
