Wednesday, 22 July 2009Kyrgyzstan needs to join the Customs Union of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC). The Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan, Zhanysh Rustenbekov, said during the press conference in the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan, "Kazakhstan Today" agency reports.
"It will be a little difficult for us to be in the Customs Union because we joined WTO and we will have to coordinate customs duties with the international organizations. Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan are joining WTO now, therefore, it will not be easy for us in the beginning," Z. Rustenbekov said.
As informed earlier, Kyrgyzstan studies possibility of joining the Customs Union. This issue was considered in Bishkek during the meeting of Vice Minister of Economic Development and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan, Sanzhar Mukanbetov, and EurAsEC Assistant Secretary General, Evgeniy Vorsin.
