"Let's not fall into a dream," said Denktas.

JTW Staff, 19 December 2004

TRNC (Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus) Foreign Minister Serdar Denktas: "I don't think the Greek Cypriots will reach a point where they are prepared to find a solution within the next 10 months"
According to the foreign minister Denktas , it would take at least five years to persuade the Greek Cypriots to support a solution on the island, if the U.N and the EU adopted a consistent policy.
Denktaş said the Turkish Cypriot side would maintain its support for the resolution of the dispute, which he said should be sought through efforts by the U.N., however the Greek side does not really wants a solution.

Cyprus has been divided between the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot communities since 1974.
