Turkey agreed to extend the EU association accord to Cyprus after two days of negotiations and indirectly agreed to recognize the Republic of Cyprus and its sovereignty over the entire island, the Middle East Newsline reported Sunday. However Turkish officals do not accept the content. Ankara says Turkey does not recognize Greek Cyprus and its sovereignty claims over the whole of island.
Turkish officials said "there are two separate governments on the island and the EU made a grave mistake by accepting the Greek side before a solution. Turkey does not recognise and will not recognise the Greek Cyprus before a solution."
Dr. Nilgun Gulcan from ISRO said there was a Greek Cypriot manipulation after the 17 December EU Summit: "The Greek Cypriots try to manipulate world media. They know that Trukey will not withdraw its troops without a solution. If Turkey had no army in Cyprus most of the Turkisp people would had been massacred. Turkish Army on the island is the only guarantee for the Turkish Cypriots' existence."
