German Envoy Completes His Mission in Uzbekistan |

Monday, 6 July 2009Ambassador of Germany to Uzbekistan Matthias Mayer will complete his mission in mid-July 2009, the press release of the German Embassy said on 3 July. Matthias Mayer has been heading German Embassy in Tashkent since September 2006.
The release said during past three years, the bilateral relations between Germany and Uzbekistan developed positively. Political relations between two states were observed with close and trustful dialogue.
Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Germany grew by 7.2% year-on-year in 2008 to 354 million euros.
The sides also continued development cooperation in Uzbekistan. In average, Germany annually allocates 12-13 million euros to Uzbekistan within financial and technical cooperation.
Many projects and events were realized within the cultural and educational projects, the release said.
Germany is one of the first countries, which acknowledged independence of Uzbekistan in 1991. The release said Germany supports close political and economic relations, development policy and cultural relations. Germany supports reforms of Uzbekistan.
Matthias Mayer said he will head German Embassy in one of the Mediterranean countries. He said that he got to know Uzbekistan as hospital country with rich history and culture. He wished Uzbekistan and Uzbek people peace, stability and well-being in his remarks. |
