Sunday, 5 July 2009Turkey welcomed a secure and stable general elections in Albania on Saturday.
Turkey's Foreign Ministry released a statement in which it welcomed the recent general elections held in Albania in a secure and stable atmosphere.
"Turkey also welcomes that the general elections were held in line with fundamental democratic standards," the statement said.
In the statement, the ministry said that Turkey would continue to support Albania, which had made great progress in democracy, stability and development.
"We are ready to improve our perfect relations and cooperation in coming days," the ministry said.
The ministry also said that Turkey believed the elections and the government to be formed after the elections would help Albania become a factor of stability in its region with a balanced and constructive policy, and raise the prosperity of Albanian people.
The general elections took place in Albania on June 28. Election officials said late Friday that Democrats, headed by actual Prime Minister Sali Berisha, won 46.69 percent. |
