Azerbaijan, Baku, July 3 /Trend News A.Huseynbala /

Azerbaijani MP presented to the leadership of the Parliament of Azerbaijan proposals for devising a national program for the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement.

"I have presented the proposals to the Chairman of Parliament Ogtay Asadov. But yet I have not received an official response," Nasib Nasibli, a member of Musavat parliamentary group, told Trend News.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan lost all of Nagorno-Karabakh except for Shusha and Khojali in December 1991. In 1992-93, Armenian armed forces occupied Shusha, Khojali and 7 districts surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group - Russia, France, and the U.S. - are currently holding the peace negotiations.

According to Nasibli, as the Parliament goes to vacation, an official response to his proposal will likely be given at the autumn session.

"Considering that the peace talks on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict continues too long, I want the role of the Parliament to increase in this regard," said the MP.

He said that the Government of Azerbaijan should prepared and submit to the Parliament a Concept for the Karabakh problem solution.
