Thirteen people suffered injuries after a train collided with a trailer and derailed on Friday night in Haute-Vienne district, southwestern France, the police said in a statement, Xinhua reported.

The French National Railway (SNCF) said the train "hit obstacles on the tracks" that caused the derailment at around 8:40 p.m. local time (0740 GMT), at a place 15 kilometers south of Limoges, the largest city in Haute-Vienne.

After clashing into a trailer that accidentally overturned on the tracks, the locomative and two wagons deviated. Six people were hurt seriously among the 13 injured, the police said.

The train was running between Paris and Cahors, with 450 passengers on board, the SNCF said.

Railway workers are busy clearing the mess. The accident impeded traffic around that section and some trains were delayed. The SNCF has launched an investigation into the accident.
