Wednesday, 1 July 2009Turkey's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Baki Ilkin hosted Tuesday a reception to mark the end of Turkey's rotating presidency of the UN Security Council as well as his departure from New York due to the end of his term of office.
Ilkin's farewell reception was held at the Turkish Centre (Turkevi) in New York.
Permanent representatives of member states of UN, high-level officials from UN, Turkish officials as well as numerous Turkish and foreign journalists attended the reception.
Ilkin presided the meeting of the Security Council under the rotating presidency of Turkey for the last time on Tuesday.
Turkey, which has handed over its one month long rotating presidency of the council to Uganda, is expected to act as a term president for one month again next year. |
