Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Monday that legal experts of the presidency were examining the amendment that allows trial of military personnel before civil courts.
Turkish Parliament passed the amendment on Friday. Turkish Government Spokesman, State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek said it was up to the President to approve or disapprove the law on the trial of military personnel.
At his arrival in Ankara after his formal visit to China, President Gul told reporters that he would not give his decision politically.
"Our legal departments examine in detail bills passed by the parliament. If we see contradiction to the constitution, then we send it back to the parliament to be debated once again. Our experts are working on it right now," Gul said.
Also speaking about his visit to China, Gul said he believes a new era has begun in relations between Turkey and China.
He said both economic and political relations would continue stronger than ever.
