At least three miners died in an accident at a coal mine in central Kazakhstan on Monday, the country's emergencies ministry said.

A total of 94 miners were in the Tentekskaya coal mine in Kazakhstan's province of Karagandy when a sudden coal and gas burst occurred.

The bodies of two miners were discovered immediately after the accident. Five hours later the body of a third miner was found, the ministry spokesman said. The remaining miners were evacuated.

The Tentekskaya coal mine is owned by steel giant ArcelorMittal. In June of last year, five miners died in a similar accident at the mine.
