The U.S. economy shrank at a 5.5 percent annual rate in the first three months of this year, which is two-tenths of a percent less than first estimated.
Thursday's report from the Commerce Department is a routine update of the figures made as more complete data becomes available.
The data also show the economy is shrinking at a slower pace than the final quarter of last year.
A separate report from the Labor Department shows the U.S. job market getting slightly worse.
The number of Americans signing up for unemployment compensation for the first time rose by 15,000 last week, to a total of 627,000.
