Thursday, 25 June 2009The deputy chief prosecutor in Istanbul said that they had not received yet the forensic reports about the document "action plan for fight against fundamentalism" which was published by the Taraf newspaper a while ago.
Turan Colakkadi told reporters that they had only received criminal reports sent by the gendarmerie and police teams.
"After receiving and assessing the forensic reports, the dossier from the military prosecutor's office and the other relevant documents, we will decide whether or not to question Col. Dursun Cicek," he added.
Earlier in the day, the military prosecutor's office ruled that an investigation against Col. Cicek was not needed. The office also denied the existence of such a document and said that it may have been forged in an attempt to besmirch the armed forces. "There is no evidence showing that the signature on the document belongs to Colonel Dursun Cicek as the original copy of the document is not present and there is no evidence of the colonel under suspicion having any link to the document," the military prosecutor's office said in a statement.
The document, which was published by the Taraf daily this month, outlines an alleged plan crafted by a navy colonel to eradicate the ruling Justice & Development (AK) Party. |
